Sting results in arrest

Officers with the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office and the Region V Drug Task Force arrested a 30-year-old man Monday on drug-trafficking charges, according to a RCSO news release.

Genaro Solis-Cordoba, 30, of Mexico was arrested after officers found cocaine, a handgun and cash while searching a vehicle and a Roosevelt County residence.

Solis-Cordoba was booked into the Roosevelt County Detention Center on the charge of trafficking of cocaine, a charge that carries a bond of $50,000 and is punishable by up to nine years in prison, according to the release.

According to the release, warrants were obtained after an undercover drug purchase was arranged by agents with the task force.

Officers seized 1.2 ounces of cocaine, $789 in cash, a semi-automatic handgun, scales and packaging material. According to agent/deputy Shawn Gore, the cocaine has an approximate street value of $1,300.

Officers also recovered fake identification documents believed to used by Solis-Cordoba, who authorities said is an undocumented alien.
