  • Portales moisture totals double the norm

    Staff report Portales has seen more rain in May than in the three previous months combined, records from National Weather Service show. Through Friday, NWS statistics show Portales has received 2.7 inches of rain this month. The city saw just 2.24 inches from February through April. For the year, Portales has received 6.83 inches of moisture, about double the normal amount of moisture for the first 4 1/2 months of the year.
