    Portales Woman’s Club Portales Woman’s Club met on Nov. 9 with President Teresa Howard, presiding. The Collect was led by Howard, the pledges led by Rosalee Richards, and Mary Lou Rowley gave the invocation. There were 23 members and two guests present. The minutes from the October meeting were approved as corrected, and the treasurer’s report was filed. Della Kobernick won the door prize.     Stieg Fred and Christine Stieg of Conchas Dam will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 26 at the Conchas Lake Baptist Church. The couple was married Nov. 25, 1941, at the First Baptist Church Parsonage in Portales. They have four children: Fred Stieg and his wife Linda; Bill Stieg; Polly and her husband Bill Spinks; and Martha and her husband Richard Borden. They have 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren with a third on the way....

    Turner Steve Turner, a Clovis resident, was in a work-related accident on Nov. 9, resulting in the amputation of his lower right leg. Steve will be unable to work while he is recovering and the family is in need of financial help.     The Portales Rotary Club played host to children and houseparents from both the New Mexico Baptist Children’s Home and the New Mexico Christian Childrens Home for a day at Casel-Land Fun Center in Clovis on Oct. 15.
