    LUBBOCK -- Texas Tech head football coach Matt Wells was fired Monday, effective immediately. Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt announced the change in leadership. Tech Offensive Coordinator Sonny Cumbie was named the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
