ENMU names interim softball coach

PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University athletic director Matt Billings has announced the appointment of Dusté Grawrock as interim softball coach for the remainder of the 2021 season.

Grawrock has previous college head coaching experience at Southern Virginia University, an NCAA Division III school in Buena Vista, Va., where she posted a 30-93 record from 2010-2014. Prior to that, she was an assistant softball coach from 2003-05 at Valley Catholic H.S. in Beaverton, Ore.

From 2007-17, Grawrock served as a private pitching and skills coach in Virginia. She also played two seasons at Southern Virginia, and was named a USCAA honorable mention All-American in 2002.

She replaces Kira Zeiter, who resigned her position on March 23 after the Greyhounds started the season 0-13, including 0-12 in the Lone Star Conference. Last spring, the team was 11-8 and in second place in the LSC at 5-1 when the season was halted by the coronavirus pandemic.

ENMU cancelled home LSC doubleheaders against St. Mary’s and St. Edward’s last weekend. The Hounds are idle this weekend before resuming their slate with conference twin bills at Oklahoma Christian on Friday and at Cameron on Sunday.
