• The Clovis Meals on Wheels Arts and Crafts Show is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Central Christian Church.

The fat lady’s singing ...

• The Santa Fe Opera tour lands in Clovis with a program of arias entitled “Written in the Stars.” It’s at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Clovis Community College Town Hall.

Cleaning up ...

• Hundreds expected to descend on Portales on Saturday for the annual New Mexico Clean & Beautiful cleanup. They can always use extra volunteers. It’s from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Help pick up trash and they’ll feed you lunch. Gather at the Memorial Building for your assignment.

Random observations ...

• Lilacs blooming everywhere but the wisteria are off to a ragged start. The buzzards are soaring above their perches late evenings near Goodwin Trails Park. A wild turkey spotted last Saturday morning dashing north across Llano Estacado near Main Street. Hummingbird moths everywhere.
