Police investigating stabbing


A 52-year-old Portales man was stabbed Wednesday evening at a residence on East Brazos Street, Portales police said.

The man was flown to a Lubbock hospital early Thursday morning. He was listed in stable condition Thursday afternoon.

According to Lt. Mark Cage:

  • Officers were dispatched to 710 East Brazos at 11:48 p.m. where they found a subject who had been stabbed in the abdomen.
  • The suspect was found inside the residence but officers were unable to confirm whether he lived at that address.
  • The victim's wound is about 1 to 2 centimeters wide.
  • No weapon was recovered.
  • No arrests have been made.
