Police blotter — Feb. 27

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 8 a.m. Feb. 14 an officer responded to the 2000 block of Ross Street for a report of battery.

A construction worker said a woman who lived in the neighborhood became upset with him because of the way he parked his truck and called her husband, who came and punched him in the nose.

The officer noted the man’s nose was bleeding.

The officer spoke to the man accused of hitting the man. He said the worker was disrespectful to his wife and had almost hit his child with his truck before the incident so he got upset and punched him in the face.

The officer noted intent to seek an arrest warrant for the man who admitted hitting the worker.

About 2 p.m. an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Chase Meadows for a report of found property.

A man said he found a loaded shotgun lying in the street at an intersection near his home.

The officer documented the gun was loaded and was not listed as stolen.

The gun was logged into evidence.

Around 9 p.m. Feb. 15 an officer responded to an undisclosed residence for a report of a man with a knife.

A woman said she and her boyfriend of two weeks were arguing and he tried to take her keys from her ignition and they struggled. She said he threw the key fob for her keys, then went in the house and came back with a knife, which he used to stab all four of her tires.

The man admitted stabbing the tires and said he would pay for them. He said he got angry and slashed the tires after they argued and she punched him in the face.

The officer noted intent to seek a warrant for tampering with a motor vehicle and larceny for taking the woman’s keys.

About 2 p.m. Feb. 16 an officer responded to a report of narcotics found at Yucca Middle School.

A school administrator said a bag of what appeared to be marijuana had been found in a trash can in the computer lab.

The officer field tested the substance, which returned positive for marijuana. The bag was taken to the police department for destruction.
