Portales police investigating death of ENMU student

Portales police are investigating the death of a 22-year-old woman found outside her residence in the 1200 block of North Avenue A.

Angel Vale, 22, of Roswell was found by co-workers early Thursday evening, Berry said.

Deputy Police Chief Lonnie Berry said the death is being investigated as a homicide because there is evidence of head trauma. Her body has been taken by the medical investigator’s office for an autopsy, Berry said.

Vale was a student at Eastern New Mexico University and worked as a waitress at Something Different Grill in Portales, police said.

Police and an ambulance were dispatched to the house around 7 p.m. Thursday for a report of an unconscious woman, Berry said.

Berry said the victim was late to work Thursday, but spoke to her mother Thursday afternoon.

Berry said no arrests had been made in connection with the case by late Thursday night.
