Clovis man sentenced to 10 years for pizza robbery

A 23-year-old Clovis man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbing a pizza employee in September.

Gabriel Moya was convicted of armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, aggravated battery and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, according to a press release from the district attorney’s office.

Police said Sept. 16 an employee with Papa Murphy’s was taking out the trash when a masked man who put a knife to his side and walked him around back of the business where another suspect was waiting.

The two men reportedly taped the victim’s arms and took his cell phone, wallet and keys, then fled in his vehicle, the release said.

The victim’s car was spotted in Portales and the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office arrested both men.

Moya’s co-defendant, Isaiahs Olivas, 22, is awaiting trial.
