Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 11 p.m. July 3 an officer responded to the 200 block of Pinon for a criminal damage report.

A man said fireworks damaged the windshield on his parked vehicle.

The officer noted the windshield was cracked and scratched and there were signs fireworks had exploded on the vehicle.

The man said he did not know who had set off the fireworks.

About 1 a.m. July 4 an officer responded to 12th and Thornton Streets for a battery.

A woman said two males attacked a man she was walking with as they passed through the area.

She said the suspects were standing under a street light and started yelling at them.

She said they then ran over and started hitting her friend. He fell to the ground they started kicking him until he lost consciousness.

The 28-year-old man was taken to the hospital.

When he regained consciousness the officer noted he refused to give any information and told police he didn’t want their help.

Around 3 p.m. July 4 an officer responded to 10th and Davis Streets for a vehicle crash.

Two women each said they were backing out of driveways and didn’t see the other vehicle back up and struck each other.

The women were issued citations for improper backing.

About 2 a.m. July 5 an officer responded to a call of shots fired at a residence in the 800 block of Yucca.

A man at the residence said he was there for a get-together and several people showed up who were not invited.

The people at the house went inside and closed the garage door and he said the other group of people who were uninvited began racing cars up and down the street and shooting off fireworks.

He said he looked outside and one of the males shot a handgun into the air.

An officer found 11 .40 caliber casings in the area in front of the residence.
