Law officers make drug bust

Roosevelt County Sheriff’s officers working with the Region V Drug Task Force seized illegal drugs and arrested one man Sunday in Portales on an outstanding warrant. They are seeking felony drug trafficking charges against two individuals, according to a RCSO press release.

According to the press release, a search warrant was issued for a residence at 615 S. Main in Portales after a traffic stop during which a K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle and later at the door of the residence.

As a result of the search warrant, methamphetamines, marijuana, a loaded firearm, scales and packaging material were seized, according to Roosevelt County Sheriff Darren Hooker. A vehicle and $4,000 in currency were also seized, according to Hooker.

Officers arrested Jeremy Deason, 25, on an outstanding warrant. They released a 25-year-old female from the scene but RCSO Agent Shawn Gore said that felony charges will be sought against the pair.
