    Football practice is set to begin Monday at Clovis High, with the Wildcats going from 8 a.m. to around 1:30 p.m. with a break in the middle. Assistant coach Darren Kelley said the Cats will break from 11 a.m. to noon. The schedule will hold up through Friday, with the team going to pads for the first time on Thursday. "We should have about 90 kids to start with," Kelley said. "The second week, we'll work (practices) around teachers' meetings."   • Rams set to begin football practice on Monday

    The Jaime Ramirez era in Portales is about to begin. Ramirez, hired in March as the Rams' new football coach, will lead his team into two-a-days beginning on Monday at the PHS practice field. "I'm hoping we're get anywhere from 60-80 kids out," he said. The Rams will practice in shorts and helmets from 6:30-8 a.m., then watch film and return to the practice field from 8:30-10 a.m. They will lift weights for about a half-hour after that, he said.     John Nance of Rogers said the U.S. Postal Service has been offering less than stellar service in the last two years so it comes as no surprise to him that Rogers' office hours will be cut to four hours a day.
