My Turn - August 5

I recently received an email from Andrea Fluhman.

I'm having trouble remembering her, but — based on her salutation — we must be close.

"Dearest Friend,

"I'm writing this with tears in my eyes, my family and I came down here to Madrid Spain for a shot (sic) trip, unfortunately we got mugged at the hotel, all money, credit card and mobile phones were stolen.

"We've been to the embassy and the Police but they're not helping issues at all and our flight leaves in few hours but we're having problems settling the hotel bills and the manager won't let us leave.

"I'm freaked out and i need your help."

Concerned, I replied:

Dearest Andrea,

I'm so pleased to hear from you. It seems like forever...well, I'm sure that you remember better than I.

I am sorry that your trip was shot, but you can count on me.

Please email me your social security and bank account numbers so that I can transfer funds at once.

I am especially freaked to hear about your mugging. It's also been muggy here.

Please tell your lovely family that I said hello.

Some vacation photos of you from the beach would also be treasured.

A friend said that y'all might be grifters, but he obviously doesn't know you.

In case the transfer doesn't go through, please include your address so that I can at least send tissues.

Tearfully,

Dearest Friend
