CLOVIS — A pair of street closures are scheduled in June for installation of a reuse water main. The following streets will be closed or partially closed, starting June 3: • The section of 20th Street between Thornton and Mitchell streets. For two weeks, access will only be granted to residents of 20th Street. • Main Street between Purdue Avenue and 21st Street will have one half of the road closed to traffic for four days. CLOVIS — The Clovis Municipal Schools Board of Education will consider the 2019-20 budget, among other items, during its meeting Tuesday evening. The budget for the upcoming year is $65.9 million, an increase of just over $7 million from the 2018-19 budget. PORTALES — A Portales man was booked Friday by a Roosevelt County grand jury on charges in connection to a girl who was reported missing from Texico May 15. Augustin Gallegos, 34, faces charges of first-degree kidnapping, abuse of a child, tampering with evidence and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Mary Jeffs, 27, was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center and flown to a Lubbock facility with critical injuries, according to the release.
