  • Faith: Words matter, as does how we use them

    Curtis Shelburne, Religion columnist|Updated Mar 29, 2022

I must confess: Modern poetry baffles me. This should not be surprising. I am an English major but of an old, fossilized, and vanishing variety. I prefer a degree plan heavy on Shakespeare and very, very light indeed on Gender & Sexuality Studies. And here, friends, is the most damning confession of all: I really prefer poetry that rhymes. Betty Williamson, Local columnist|Updated Mar 29, 2022

I found myself in unfamiliar territory for a chunk of this month, in a place where I was entirely reliant upon signs to stumble my way about. Meantime, Rush went 2-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored, while sophomore Xavier...

  • Eagles edge Hounds in finale

the Staff of The News|Updated Mar 29, 2022

OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma Christian’s Isaiah Alvarenga tossed a complete-game four-hitter and shortstop Grant Lake cracked a two-run homer in the third, lifting the Eagles to a 2-0 win over Eastern New Mexico University on Sunday in the finale of a Lone Star Conference baseball series. Alvarenga (3-3), a sophomore right-hander, struck out 11 and walked just one as OC (11-21, 11-21 LSC) captured three of four over the weekend for its first home series win of the season. Alvarenga retired 12 consecutive Greyhounds in one str...
