    The Portales school board on Saturday is scheduled to interview four superintendent candidates vying to succeed Johnnie Cain.     A Farwell man died Wednesday night after he was struck by a vehicle in the 200 block of Curry Road 10 northwest of Texico.     Multiple wildfires scorching the Texas Panhandle had merged as of Thursday morning, creating the largest wildfire in state history at more than one million acres burned.
