Reuben Samuel Kelley passed from this mortal Life into the arms of his Savior and loving wife on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, in Clovis New Mexico at the ripe old age of 93. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 in the morning on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, 1601 E. Llano Estacado, Clovis, NM with Charlie Vannetta officiating.
Reuben was born to Austin L. and Ella M. Woodring Kelley on February 14, 1931, in Portales, New Mexico. Consistent with his birth coinciding with Valentines Day, Reuben was a kind and LOVING man who found his true love early in life and married Louise C. Sanderson on May 28, 1949. Born to this loving union were two sons. Gary and Dan, who consider themselves lucky to have had such a wonderful father who did his best to teach them right from wrong, and a few other life lessons, the least of which was to love a fast car, preferably a MOPAR. Reuben enjoyed watching old western movies, listening to music, especially Eddie Arnold who he riveled with his own amazing yodel and working on cars with his boys. His dry sense of humor was loved and appreciated by all who knew him. He was a carpenter/builder by trade and a member of the Nazarene Church.
Surviving Reuben are his two sons; Gary (Carol) Kelley of Logan, NM, and Dan (Patsy) Kelley of Texico, NM, grandchildren; Kim (Troy) Teeter, Garrett (Renee) Kelley, Shana (Tim) Owens, and Shane (Ashley) Henderson, Step grandchildren; Myles (Trina) Mitchell, Holly Ford, Kayleigh (Austin) Freeman, and Aspyn (Robert) Hayter, ten great grandchildren, ten step-great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Reuben was preceded in death by his wife; Louise, his parents; Austin and Ella, sisters; Verla Bell Phillips and Corene Jones, brothers; Gene Kelley, Austin L Kelley Jr. and Avis Kelley, granddaughter; Kyla K. Kelley and step-grandson; WT Klebold.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every employee of the Retirement Ranch who lovingly cared for Reuben during the last months of his life.
