Mary Catherine (McKinney) McVey passed away December 14, 2023 in Albuquerque after an illness. She was born January 12, 1937, in Clovis, New Mexico, daughter of Ben and Mary McKinney. She is survived by her husband Charles McVey of Albuquerque, NM, son Shaun Norviel of Grand Junction, Colorado and her sister Theresa Perkins of Goffstown, New Hampshire. She is also survived by cousins Mary Charlotte Nee of Edgewood, NM, Terry Burns, Albuquerque, NM, Margaret Hinchee of Clovis, NM and Janette Morley of Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Mary Catherine graduated from Sacred Heart School in Clovis as well as Clovis High School. She attended Texas Technical University in Lubbock, Texas and the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado. She worked in a variety of positions in Albuquerque and was executive secretary for the director of a research laboratory at the University of California, San Diego, California prior to moving back to Albuquerque in 1988.
She was an accomplished watercolor artist and longtime active member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society and a signature member of the Society.
Funeral arrangements have been made by the French Mortuary, Albuquerque. Her funeral will be January 9, 2024, at 10 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Albuquerque. Internment will be at the Veterans’ Cemetery in Santa Fe.
