Marksmanship academy welcomes family

The High Plains Marksmanship Academy is a new rifle and pistol competitive marksmanship program, according to coach and organizer Eric Goodkowsky.

Members must attend and pass a National Rifle Association basic rifle or pistol class hosted by HPMA.

Cost for the first family member to attend a class is $99, the second family member is $79, the third family member is $59, and $49 for a fourth.

“This fee includes the class, the book, and the test. These classes usually take 12 hours or less. We put the classes on over two days on a weekend, or over four nights during the week,” according to Goodkowsky.

Annual dues are $100 for an individual or $150 for a family.

“We are working on the possibility of hosting a Friends of NRA Banquet here in Clovis. We expect the membership will staff these events if we have them. These events are excellent for raising some of the grant money the HPMA will always be applying for, and they are lots of fun,” Goodkowsky said.
