Meetings Watch: Civil Aviation Board

The Clovis Civil Aviation Board met Tuesday at the Clovis Municipal Airport.

• Airport Director Kyle Berkshire announced that new furniture is being installed in the Clovis Municipal Airport. The furniture includes 31 chairs and 10 tables. The cost of about $12,000 was split between the city and Boutique Air.

• A new sign design for the airport was presented and reviewed by the board.

• Berkshire presented different options in the placement of AeroCare’s hangar.

Berkshire brought up for discussion the definition of the movement area for the hangars. He suggested to have it from the grass area, across, running in front of the hangars. In these areas only vehicles with lights and two-way radios would be allowed.

Berkshire also suggested to allow space for cars to drive, yet keeping the distant part as well as the area in which the aircrafts are parked to be strictly regulated.

These zones will be maintained and enforced with those wanting to go into these areas needing to be escorted.

• A grant to redo the airport apron with the Federal Aviation Administration was recommended for approval. The new apron will include markings to show the new movement area.

The project has been bundled with the retopping of Runway 12/30 to lower the price of the project as a whole.

Berkshire said that the process is “headed in the direction to get it done.”

The final decision on the grant will lie with the Clovis city commission.
