Portales man served with warrant in police shooting

Portales police have pressed charges against a Portales man in regards to the shooting of a Portales police officer earlier today, according to a Portales Police Department press release.

At 8:20 p.m. today, Portales police officers served Anthony Ortega, 28, with an arrest warrant at Roosevelt County Detention Center where he was incarcerated on previous charges.

Ortega is charged with aggravated battery, disarming a peace officer and resisting, evading an officer. He is being held without bond on other charges and has a $75,000 cash only bond for new charges, the release said.
