Wallin, a former student and basketball player of Eastern New Mexico University, was crowned Ms. New Mexico United States 2015 at the end of March in Albuquerque. She went on to compete in the Miss United States 2015 pageant in Washington, D.C. June 28 through July 3.

Wallin said the opportunity to run for Ms. New Mexico was the perfect chance to share her purpose and passion for empowering women.

“One of the biggest things I got to enjoy because of my title was being the high school keynote speaker for a graduation,” she said. “I also got to reach out and speak to multiple youth groups, women’s groups and university organizations with the platform of empowering success from the inside out.”

Wallin described competing in the Ms. United States pageant as an “awesome experience.”

“I got to meet a lot of really intelligent women from across the U.S.,” she said. “I got to enjoy our nation’s capital for a week and take in all of the sights and cool things that Washington, D.C. has to offer.”

Wallin grew up in Moriarty and came to ENMU on a basketball scholarship from 1997-2001.

“It was a great experience,” Wallin said of her time attending the college. “I enjoyed being a college athlete, and I met a lot people in the community that I am still close with.”

Wallin was originally pursuing a pre-med degree with plans on attending medical school, but landing in a chiropractor’s office due to basketball injuries inspired her to change course.

“Once I became a patient, I realized that I was not only in less pain, I was performing better,” she said. “So I decided to pursue a career of my own in chiropractic.”

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in anatomy, Wallin attended chiropractic school in Texas and then opened her first practice in Clovis.

She remained practicing in Clovis for six years before moving to Las Cruces, where she currently runs Healing Source Chiropractic.
