Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Staff report
Portales will see some moisture throughout the day today, but snowfall will be minimal, according to National Weather Service officials in Albuquerque.
“It is a very tricky forecast, because in this event, we have not seen the cold in the air that we have seen in previous (weather) events,” said Meteorologist Jason Frazier. “We haven’t seen the temperature drops necessary for this to be a high-impact event.”
In other words, said Frazier, weather will alternate between rain and snowfall throughout the day with little snow accumulating on the ground.
He said skies will be overcast in Portales and Clovis through Saturday evening with the snow and rainfall tapering off Sunday morning and stopping by Sunday evening.
The high in Portales for today is expected to be 36 degrees with an overnight low of 32. Clovis’ high is forecast at 35, also with a low of 32.
Temperatures will be rising into the 50s again next week, Frazier said.
