This fishing report, provided by Bill Dunn and the Department of Game and Fish, has been generated from the best information available from area officers and anglers. Conditions encountered after the report is compiled may differ, as stream, lake and weather conditions alter fish and angler activities.

Northeast

Charette Lakes: Closed for the season.

Cimarron River: Stream flow below Eagle Nest on Monday was 22 cfs. Trout fishing was fair to good using copper John Barrs, San Juan worms, salmon eggs and worms. We had no reports from the Gravel Pit Lakes. Clayton Lake: Closed for the season. Conchas Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using tubes, worms and crank baits for smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair using slab spoons for white bass. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the low 60s. Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week. Eagle Rock Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Eagle Nest Lake: Kokanee snagging has tapered off and was a bit slow this past week. Anglers did best working near the boat ramp. Fishing was good using worms and salmon eggs for perch. Trout fishing was good using Power Bait and salmon eggs. Anglers fishing for perch and trout caught two northern pike between 30 and 35 inches in length. The boat ramp has been closed due to low water conditions. The lake remains open to canoes, kayaks and other paddle craft. Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week. Hopewell Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Lake Alice: We had no reports from anglers this week. Lake Maloya: Fishing was good using rainbow and green garlic scented Power Bait, marshmallows, Pistol Petes and bead-head hares ears for trout. We had no reports on perch. Los Pinos: Trout fishing was fair to good using San Juan worms, copper John Barrs, egg patterns, spinners and salmon eggs. Manzano Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using Power Bait and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on other species. Maxwell Lake 13: Closed for the season. Monastery Lake: Trout fishing was fair using Pistol Petes, Power Bait and salmon eggs. Morphy Lake: Closed for the season.Mt View Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week. Pecos River: Water flow near the town of Pecos on Monday was 52 cfs. Trout fishing was fair to good using egg patterns, bead-head prince nymphs and salmon eggs. We had no reports on catfish. Red River: Water flow near the hatchery on Monday was 71 cfs. Fishing was good using copper John Barrs, poundmeisters and salmon eggs for trout. Rio Costilla: We had no reports from anglers this week. Rio Grande: Water flow near the Taos Junction Bridge on Monday was 448 cfs. Trout fishing was fair to good using copper John Barrs, wooly buggers, San Juan worms and salmon eggs. Fishing was fair using spinners, tubes and wooly buggers for smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair using large streamers and swim baits for northern pike. We had no reports on other species. Rio Hondo: Stream flow near Valdez on Monday was 17 cfs. We had no reports from anglers. Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco on Monday was 13 cfs. Fishing was slow. Santa Barbara: We had no reports from anglers this week. Shuree Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week. Springer Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Storrie Lake: Fishing was fair to good using salmon eggs and Power Bait for trout. We had no reports on other species. Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Ute Lake: Fishing was fair using slab spoons and blade baits for white bass. Fishing was fair to good using jig and minnow combinations and slab spoons for walleye. Anglers reported good success working the minnows at depths of 28 to 35 feet. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the low 60s.

Northwest

Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Animas River: Water flow near Aztec on Monday morning was 581 cfs.Trout fishing was fair using wooly buggers, San Juan worms and salmon eggs. Albuquerque Area Drains: Fishing on the Albuquerque Drain was fair using worms and salmon eggs under a bobber for trout. We had no reports from the other drains in the area. Bluewater Lake: Fishing pressure was very light and fishing was slow for all species. Anglers should be aware that it is illegal to use bait fish at this lake. Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week. Canjilon Lakes: Trout fishing was fair to good using Power Bait, salmon eggs and Pistol Petes under a bubble. Chama River: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 82 cfs and 97 cfs respectively. Fishing below El Vado was good using salmon eggs, night crawlers, San Juan worms, egg patterns and prince nymphs for a mixed bag of rainbow and brown trout. Fishing below Abiquiu was fair using San Juan worms, copper John Barrs, worms, and salmon eggs for rainbow trout. Cochiti Lake: Fishing was slow for all species and fishing pressure was very light. El Vado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Fenton Lake: Trout fishing was very good using olive and black Pistol Petes, Power Bait, marshmallows and worms. Heron Lake: Fishing was slow for all species and fishing pressure was very light. All boat ramps have been closed due to low water conditions. Small boats, canoes and kayaks may still be used. Possession of kokanee is not permitted here or on Willow Creek during the closed season which runs from Oct. 1 through Nov. 13. Jackson Lake: Fishing was fair using salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on others species. Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez as of Monday was 24 cfs. Fishing on the Cebolla was good using bead-head prince nymphs and worms. Fishing on the Jemez River was fair using copper John Barrs. We had no reports from the other streams in the area. Laguna Del Campo: Closed for the season. Lake Farmington: Fishing was good using Power Bait, Pistol Petes and small crank baits for trout. We had no reports on other species. Navajo Lake: Kokanee snagging slowed considerably and the fish that were snagged were getting a bit soft. Fishing for bass was slow with just a few caught by anglers using tubes, grubs, jigs and crank baits. Fishing for northern pike was slow to fair for anglers using crank baits and jerk baits. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp ranged from the high 50s to the low 60s. San Gregorio: Trout fishing was slow. San Juan River: Water flow below Navajo Dam on Monday was 353 cfs. Trout fishing through the Quality Waters was good using RS2s, foam wing emergers, Griffith’s gnats, fluff baetis, small bead-head pheasant tails, egg patterns and zebra midges. Fishing through the bait waters was good using salmon eggs, Power Bait, wooly buggers and small jerk baits. Santa Cruz Lake: This water has closed to boating and will remain closed until mid-July of 2015. The only fishing access will be from the overlook, which will remain open. The Bureau of Land Management will be renovating the north lake campground, boat launch, picnic area and main access road. We had no reports from anglers this week. Seven Springs Brood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week. Tingley Beach: Fishing at the Youth and Central ponds was good using salmon eggs, marshmallows, Power Bait and garlic cheese for trout. Fishing at the Bob Gerding Catch and Release Pond was fair using small streamers. Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Southwest

Bear Canyon: Fishing was fair using worms and Power Bait for trout. Fishing was slow to fair using liver and hot dogs for catfish. We had no reports on other species. Bill Evans Lake: Trout fishing was very good using Pistol Petes, salmon peach and rainbow Power Bait, salmon eggs and worms. Fishing was fair using worms for sunfish. We had no reports on other species. Caballo Lake: Fishing was slow with just a few catfish caught by anglers using liver and night crawlers. The water was murky. Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing was fair to good using crank baits, minnows and spoons for white bass. Fishing was slow to fair using tubes, jigs, spinner baits, chigger craws and swim baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Anglers using swim baits picked up an occasional walleye. Fishing was fair using liver, night crawlers and shrimp for catfish. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the mid 60s. Escondida Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Gila River: Water flow on the Gila as of this past Monday was 131 cfs. Fishing on the main river was slow for all species. We had no reports from the Forks. Glenwood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week. Lake Roberts: We had no reports from anglers this week. Percha Dam: Fishing was slow for all species. Quemado Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using in line spinners and crank baits for tiger musky. We had no reports on other species. Rio Grande: Water flow below Elephant Butte on Monday was 48 cfs. Fishing was fair using night crawlers for catfish. We had no reports on other species. Snow Lake: Trout fishing was fair using Power Bait. Young Pond: Closed for an art fair through Nov. 15.

Southeast

Bataan Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday was 12 cfs. We had no reports from anglers. Blue Hole Park Pond: Fishing was slow for all species. Fishing pressure was very light. Bonito Lake: Closed. Bosque Redondo: Fishing was slow but there were a few catfish caught by anglers using liver. Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week. Brantley Lake: The main entrance to the park has reopened. Anglers are to practice catch-and-release for all fish here as high levels of DDT were found in several fish. We had no reports from anglers this week. Carlsbad Municipal Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Chaparral Park Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. El Rito Creek: Fishing was slow to fair using salmon eggs, Power Bait and egg pattern flies for trout. Eunice Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Green Meadow Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Fishing pressure was very light. Greene Acres Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Grindstone Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week. Jal Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Fishing pressure was very light. Lake Van: Fishing was slow for all species. Oasis Park Lake: Fishing was fair to good using Power Bait and spinners for trout. We had no reports on other species. Perch Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Ruidoso River: Stream flow at Ruidoso on Monday was 13 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. Santa Rosa Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using tubes, swim baits and crank baits for smallmouth bass. We had no reports on other species. Sumner Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
