Roswell High blanks Lady Rams

Friday was a tough day for the Portales High girls soccer team.

Roswell High had three girls with multiplee goals and the Lady Coyotes cruised to a 9-0 win at the PHS pitch.

Senior forward Jessica La Stella scored four goals for the Lady Coyotes (3-3) — two in each half. Meantime, senior forward Annelle Chavez added two goals in the first half and junior midfielder Mercedes Melgarejo scored twice in the second stanza.

Roswell High, which beat the Lady Rams (1-3) 4-0 last week in a season-opening tournament hosted by Roswell Goddard, led this one 4-0 at halftime.

Portales returns to action on Tuesday with a 4 p.m. match at Moriarty. The PHS boys are also slated to play the Pintos at the same time.
