Residents urged to attend road improvement meeting
Staff report
City officials are urging those who live or often commute on Wilhite Road between Prince and Norris streets to attend an improvement project open house meeting.
According to a city press release, the project will focus on that section of Wilhite Road, and will include both road and drainage improvements, such as road widening, sidewalk, and curb and gutter work.
The project will also include storm drain construction on Wilhite Road from Prince Street to Winchester Drive.
“Right now, the project is in the early stages of design,” said City Manager Joe Thomas.
He said he did not expect construction to actually begin for another year. However, the meeting is an opportunity for those who will be directly affected by the project to ask questions and to offer their input.
Preliminary design and environmental screening for the project will begin after all stakeholders have had an opportunity to provide input at the open house meeting, according to the press release.
