My turn: Family time always fun

Spending time with my nieces and nephews is one of those simple things in life that has a tendency to brighten my day.

I was really looking forward to my weekend last week, because I knew I would be spending time with them and it was bound to be fun. And sure enough, it was.

It was the first time my nephew had spent time with me in months, so he locked onto my hand and didn't let go for more than two hours, dragging me all over the Hillcrest Park and the zoo in Clovis. I couldn't imagine a better Saturday afternoon.

Some things I might have to look forward to this weekend are a a wind symphony concert Sunday at Eastern New Mexico University. I always enjoy the talents of ENMU, whether theater, music or art.

Speaking of theater and art, don't forget ENMU students are also hosting their open lab show with stage and film performances and the Portales library's centennial celebration Saturday will be the introduction to a New Mexico art display, which will the library will host for all of May.
