City holding spring cleanup

The city of Clovis is holding its spring cleanup, part of the Great American Cleanup, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the office of City Manager Joe Thomas. The event will start at the city's parks and recreation department at 500 Sycamore.

According to city of Clovis Parks and Recreation Department Director Bill Bizzell:

• The cleanup will cover various areas of the city. Areas along streets such as Martin Luther King Boulevard, 21st Street, Llano Estacado and U.S. 60-84 will receive the heaviest cleanup.
• T-shirts advertising the event and gloves will be given to participants.
• A free pizza lunch will be provided after the event.
• Last year plastic bottles and drinks were collected most.
