Residents hired to prepare facility for cosmetics company

The run-up for a new cosmetics company based in Clovis has already created a handful of jobs for local residents.

Snelling Staffing Manager Lexi Myers said Snelling has hired eight to 10 people to wash windows, sweep, dust and paint the FrozFruit facility in preparation for its new owner, Beauty and Health Science Innovation, Inc.

“We are having such a wonderful response,” Myers said. “We’re excited about putting people to work. It’s our job.”

Snelling Staffing is an agency that connects employers with employees looking for temporary, permanent or part-time work Myers said.

Myers said Snelling is accepting employment applications for BHSI until their administrative offices move to Clovis, at which point BHSI will take over. BHSI has expressed an interest in hiring the unemployed of Curry and Roosevelt county who have “a good attitude and a willingness to work,” Myers said.

BHSI is a research and development company that manufactures cosmetics. The new company, created through a merger of Minnesota based Z. Bagatti and California based COBE Chem Labs, announced last November its plan to move to Clovis.

BHSI is in the process of cleaning and renovating the former FrozFruit building, near Clovis Industrial Park, and have already begun moving in equipment according to Chase Gentry, director of Clovis Industrial Development Corporation.

Local roofing contractor Mike Urioste said six men were working Tuesday to remove the gravel roof, which will be replaced after a fiberglass coating is applied, making it waterproof.

Gentry said the company expects to have one production line up and running by April.

Myers said the number of employees needed and opening date are unknown at this time.
