She was born Sept. 9, 1931, in Elida.

She was president of her Portales High School senior class, was Roosevelt County treasurer, president of Democratic Women, Altrusa president, and chairperson of United Way of Eastern New Mexico. Her whole life has been devoted to Roosevelt County.

She has four children, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
