Monday morning briefing: Meetings, women building and FDR

Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Monday briefing.

Meetings watch

The following governing bodies in Roosevelt County are scheduled to meet this week:

• Roosevelt County Commission, 9 a.m. Tuesday, Roosevelt County Courthouse. The agenda includes a request to change the location of the proposed war memorial on the Square, and items dealing with concessions and the electrical system in the new Roosevelt County Fairgrounds arena.

• Roosevelt General Hospital board, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, RGH conference room.

• Portales City Council, 7 p.m. Tuesday, Portales City Hall. The agenda includes a public hearing on the final city budget for this fiscal year and a vote on a notice of intent to adopt an ordinance requiring xeriscaping for new multi-family, commercial and industrial developments.

Women build

Habitat for Humanity of Roosevelt and Curry Counties and Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse of Clovis are holding a Women Build Clinic 10 a.m. Saturday at Lowe's.

The topic is hand and power tools.

Redistricting

There is a New Mexico Redistricting meeting from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.today at the Civic Center.

State lawmakers and others will be on hand to discuss changing legislative districts based on the 2010 census.

Roosevelt, a Democrat, would eventually be elected to a record four terms in office, the only U.S. president to serve more than two terms.
