English couple cycling through Clovis, Portales to promote charity

Two English Rotarians cycling 10,000 miles to raise awareness about disaster relief charity Shelter Box are expected in Clovis and Portales, according to a press release.

Huw and Carolyn Thomas of Cornwall, UK, riding in tandem with a green Shelter Box in tow, are traveling across Canada, the U.S. to Florida then to Australia and New Zealand in 2011.

A Shelter Box provides needed supplies to people who have lost everything in a natural disaster.

The Thomas’ will arrive in Clovis Tuesday and residents are invited to join the Clovis High Plains Rotary Welcome Committee at the Memorial Park on west Seventh Street at 3:30 p.m.

The couple will also be attending Noon Rotary meeting in Portales on Wednesday. The Thomas’ will leave Clovis on Thursday headed to their next stop in Levelland, Texas.
