I can't help but 'fall' in love

The days may still be hot, but have you noticed the nights are beginning to cool down? I love to feel the crisp early mornings. My yard seems to say, “Come look at me. I am putting on my best show.”

Leaves have begun to drop, and flowers are blooming with enormous beauty. Even my Virginia creeper (which overtakes everything) is gorgeous this time of year. Football dominates TV, and it’s time for popcorn and apple cider.

I love it, don’t you? I like to call it “Sweet September” and “Ostentatious October.”

Sunrise and sunset are painted with God’s paintbrush. Blue jays shriek “thief, thief.” I think they are telling us it will soon be winter, so appreciate fall now. Robins cluck as they feast upon our pyracantha tree. Doves coo to their mates, and sparrows meet at our bird feeder.

It’s all so wonderful for me. I sit in my swing and take it all in. Newly mowed hay and the smell of cut grass of September tell us, “We’re still here for a while.” It’s a show I get to watch only once a year. If you have missed the harvest moon, you have missed autumn’s spectacular production.

I must tell you my secret! I have a fall tree in our living room. I decorated it with fall leaves of color and autumn lights. I couldn’t wait. I put it up in the middle of August.

Guess when I’ll put up my Christmas tree.

It’s all about life. I have to say it again. “Life is Delicious.” I can’t help but be enthusiastic.

We have a loving God who has come that we may have life and have it abundantly. (John 10:10)

Each dawn brings a brand new day … one that has never been lived before. It comes as a present wrapped in God’s love for his children. His love is so deep it reaches the depth of the ocean and higher than the sky.

I love Romans 8:38-39: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NIV)

I wouldn’t have missed life for anything. I would never have loved nor appreciated this world had I not been born. I would have missed the beauty of God’s handiwork and I would have missed seeing my loved ones in heaven.

“No one has ever seen this, and no one has ever heard about it. No one has ever imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9 NCV)

I thank God for each season, but it will not compare with the one he is preparing for those who “trust and obey.” Don’t you know it will be beautiful?

I have a friend who said, “Every day is a good day for me. If you don’t think so, just try and miss one of those days.”

Let’s enjoy the season and be grateful we’re alive.

“Happy fall, Ya’ll”
