Thursday morning briefing: Crop counts and Lady Liberty

Good morning and welcome to Freedom New Mexico’s Thursday morning briefing.

Crop reports due

Farmers must report their crop acreage, except for small grains, by July 15 to continue to be eligible for U.S. Farm Service Agency programs.

Farmers must report acreage for all crops, including those planted on non-cropland such as hayed or grazed pasture.

This day in history

One this day in 1885, The Statue of Liberty, a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States, arrived in New York City's harbor.

Originally known as "Liberty Enlightening the World," the statue was proposed by French historian Edouard Laboulaye to commemorate the Franco-American alliance during the American Revolution.
