One injured in ATV accident

Portales and Clovis paramedics responded Monday evening to an all terrain vehicle accident in the area of the Boonestroo Dairy on State Road 467.

Lt. Ricky Mitchell of the Clovis Fire Department said crews could not get to the patient with an ambulance, so pick up trucks were used to get to the patient.

Mitchell said the man was in stable condition when he was airlifted to Lubbock. The department did not have information on the patient’s identity or the hospital that treated him.

Mitchell said the original 911 call went through Clovis dispatch for the accident near the county border. Crews realized the call was in Roosevelt County, so Portales paramedics were dispatched as well.
