County rejects revised budget, approves original preliminary plan

A 3-2 majority had the Curry County Commission doing an about face Tuesday, rejecting a proposal to add 10 new detention officers at the jail and voting to approve County Manager Lance Pyle’s original preliminary $11 million budget with additional cuts.

The vote came during a special meeting set to consider revisions to a budget Pyle presented May 18. Then, a majority of commissioners told Pyle to bring them a second version of the budget designed to accommodate $263,000 to pay for the added jail personnel.
