County commission to introduce health, safety ordinance

The Curry County Commission plans to introduce a health and safety ordinance during its May 4 meeting the Clovis-Carver Library’s north annex.

As drafted by the county’s land use committee, the ordinance addresses health and safety issues in the unincorporated areas of Curry County. County Manager Lance Pyle said in a release that the ordinance is not a beautification ordinance.

According to the ordinance, anybody served a notice to abate potentially safety, health or hazardous material from their property may request a review of the alleged violation.

The land use committee first received the ordinance for review and modification in August and approved it by a 5-2 vote March 30.

The proposed ordinance will be posted at http://www.currycounty.org

Recommendations for the ordinance can be sent to Pyle at 700 North Main, Suite 10, Clovis, NM 88101, by fax (575) 763-3656 or via email at [email protected].

The commission will consider adoption of the ordinance at its June 2 meeting.
