Clovis man sentenced for cocaine trafficking

A 43-year-old Clovis man was sentenced to 18 years in prison Thursday for trafficking cocaine.

James Sneed was convicted by a jury in October.

He was arrested while drug task force agents were serving a search warrant at his home in March 2009.

During the search, Sneed was attempting to get dressed and agents saw a large bag of cocaine fall out of underwear he was holding, according to a press release from the district attorneys office.

Agents also found a second bag of cocaine, a bag of marijuana and more than $1,600 cash in the residence, the release said.

Sneed has a prior record of drug trafficking offenses, which contributed to him receiving the maximum sentence, the release said.
