Their view: Udall doesn’t know what’s best for me

William L. Smith of Portales has an opinion regarding U.S. Sen. Tom Udall’s opinion that appeared in Wednesday’s Portales News-Tribune.

Udall wrote, “Today is a new day for health care in our country. New Mexicans have waited for generations for health care reform.”

Smith writes:

“Has Sen. Udall visited with every New Mexican for generations about the health care system...? He has never visited with me about it. That is without a doubt one of the most ludicrous statements I have ever seen or heard.

“I have one word to say about his complete statement:

“Baloney.

“Webster defines that word as nonsense; foolishness.

“The PNT statement that appears below Sen. Udall’s foolish statement is the true purpose of this great country:

‘“This newspaper believes freedom comes not from government, but from God, and is consistent with the truth expressed in the Ten Commandments, the Golden Rule, and the Declaration of Independence. Only when men and women freely control themselves and what they produce can they develop fully as human beings.”’
