Ticket feature: Opera tour stopping in Clovis

The Santa Fe Opera’s spring tour, featuring soprano Jamie-Rose Guarrine and baritone Sean Anderson, will be in Clovis on April 20.

With a free 7 p.m. performance for the public, the tour will perform at 1:15 p.m. for students at Town Hall at Clovis Community College.

Words and Music, is a short, original piece exploring the relationship between words and music. The story follows a character named Webster who believes he can help a female composer struggling with writer’s block.

The concert performed for the public will include Words and Music followed by an assortment of arias and songs.

Guarrine is an apprentice who recently appeared in The Pirate of Penzance with the Kentucky Opera, The Marriage of Figaro with the Utah Opera and in Gianne Schicchi with the Opera Co. of Philadelphia.

Anderson has recently performed in The Magic Flute with Sarasota Opera, La Boheme with the Indianapolis Opera and L Pagliacci with Opera Columbus.

Kevin Pavitt will serve as musical director and pianist for the tour.
