Portales student places in chicken festival poster contest

Kambrey Blakey, 12, of Portales won in her age category in the 2010 High Plains Lesser Prairie Chicken Festival poster contest, according to a news release from the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish.
Blakey topped the kindergarten through fifth-grade division to win $50.
Lauren Bennet of Corrales took the sixth- through 12-grade category, and Susan Brooke of Belen won overall. Brooke’s oil paintings of
lesser prairie chickens at sunrise is to be reproduced on the poster for the April festival.
