Portales police investigating vandalism

Portales police are investigating a string of almost a dozen broken windows in vehicles and homes they believe may be related.

Deputy Chief of Police Lonnie Berry said last week the reports picked up intensity for about four or five days but have since tapered off.

“We probably took about 10 or 11 criminal damage reports ranging from broken windows in vehicles to broken windows in residents as well,” Berry said. “They seem to have been done by possibly a BB gun to a maybe a ball bearing.”

Berry said no dollar estimate has been placed on the damage.
