Weather could delay deliveries

The region’s severe winter snow and ice storm could delay when your Friday morning newspaper will be delivered — by up to a day.

Road conditions will dictate when our independent contractors will be able to safely deliver your Portales News-Tribune and Clovis News Journal. But Friday afternoon deliveries could occur, or Saturday if roads become impassable.

However, there is a way to read your paper in full, for free.

If you have Internet access, all visitors to our web pages on Friday and Saturday may view the replica editions of those papers.

Besides Clovis and Portales papers, visitors going to Tucumcari’s Quay County Sun site can see that paper too.

Then just click on the "E-Paper Login” tab in the top right corner of the home page.

To ease Friday’s delivery challenges, we went to press for the three papers about 3-4 hours early Thursday night.

But icy, snow-covered and wind-exposed roads, especially in rural areas of Curry, Roosevelt, DeBaca, Quay, Parmer and Bailey counties, and outlying areas of Portales and Clovis, are already unsafe as of 6 p.m.

They aren’t expected to improve overnight in most areas. And law enforcement officers may close some roads, too, preventing anyone from driving on them.

Safety is everyone’s first priority in bad weather, so please be patient. If your Portales or Clovis papers were delivered but your copy either was blown away, covered by snow, or frozen in ice, please call 877-539-6983 and report your problem. We’ll either have your carrier or our staff resolve the matter when the weather allows safe deliveries again.
