U.S. 70 closed for disabled truck

Police closed U.S. 70 at Johnston Hill until a wrecker could move a disabled tractor-trailer Friday afternoon.

Roosevelt County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Malin Parker said the axles came off the truck, but no one was injured. He said traffic was backed up from Johnston Hill, about 4.5 miles north of Portales, back to town.

Parker hoped to have the truck out of the way by about 4:15 p.m.
