Press Release: State unveiling ENMU license plate

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division will issue two special license plates this week in recognition of the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell and Eastern New Mexico University in Portales.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase two of the storied educational institutions in New Mexico,” said Taxation & Revenue Secretary Rick Homans. “The special license plates provide an opportunity for students, staff and alumni to show their support and loyalty to their favorite school.”

Homans said that proceeds from the sale of these license plates will be distributed to the institutions to assist with academic improvements.

The Eastern New Mexico University license plate features the school colors of green and silver with the school symbols, the Greyhound mascot and the Zia. The New Mexico Military Institute plate features the school colors, red and black, and the school crest on a yellow background.

Both these plates will be issued this week at all state, municipal and private MVD offices across New Mexico. Each license plate will cost $37, with $25 of the cost to be distributed to the respective school. State statute requires the MVD to retain $10 to manufacture each plate and $2 for a transaction fee.
