Police analyzing autopsy results of fatal crash

Portales police have autopsy results for a 71-year-old woman who died after being struck by a vehicle Oct. 30. Police said Thursday they are expecting to decide whether to charge the driver in a matter of days.

Trevor Nuckols, 16, of Portales, was identified as the driver of the pickup truck that struck Gloria Ann Inge as she crossed Second at Abilene streets.

Police Deputy Chief Lonnie Berry said the autopsy indicates Inge’s injuries and whether they were caused by the pickup or hitting the pavement.

With the information, Berry said, police can match their reconstruction to the injuries and determine the circumstances of the wreck, level of accountability and charges.

“Any person that was struck like that could have had injuries that caused death,” Berry said.

He said police received autopsy results before Thanksgiving.
