Man facing child porn charges

A Portales man has been charged with almost 250 counts of child pornography.

Deputies from Roosevelt and Curry counties arrested Parviz Marcus McKeand, 22, Sunday after executing a search warrant at his residence in the 500 block of South Avenue F, according to a release from the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators seized computers equipment containing more than 100 images and videos of child pornography, which McKeand admitted to downloading, according to the release.

According to the information, McKeand was booked at the Roosevelt County Detention Center on 167 counts of sexual exploitation of children by manufacturing and 73 counts of sexual exploitation of children by possession.

The exploitation by manufacturing charge is a fourth-degree felony punishable by up to nine years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Sexual exploitation of children by possession is a second-degree felony punishable by up to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine.

He is being held in lieu of a $200,000 cash-only bond.
