Clovis awarded money for Ned Houk Park

The New Mexico State Parks has awarded Clovis money to restore motorized-use trails at Ned Houk Park.

The state announced Tuesday it is allocating $15,000 for the park as part of almost $1.6 million for eight trail projects around New Mexico.

The Recreational Trails Program, managed by the State Parks Division of the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department, is a federal aid program that assists communities and other entities in the construction and maintenance of trails, according to a press release.

The release said since the program’s inception in 1993, New Mexico has awarded more than $9 million to more than 100 successful project sponsors across the state.

The program has helped to create and maintain hundreds of miles of trails for hikers, bicyclists, equestrians and motorized trail users.
