Two teenagers were arrested and charged Tuesday for the shooting a 28-year-old Clovis man Monday afternoon.

Curry County Undersheriff Wesley Waller said a 17-year-old male, who he declined to identify because he is a juvenile, is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence in the shooting of Francisco Elvedo.

Also, Noel Miranda, 19, was charged with accessory to aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence.

The juvenile and Miranda are both from Clovis.

Elvedo was shot in the back and the bullet traveled through his body, exiting his abdomen, Waller said. He remains hospitalized at Plains Regional Medical Center where he underwent surgery Monday night.

Waller said alcohol appears to have played a role in the shooting, though investigators are working to determine what events led to the shooting.

Waller said the shooting was just south of Curry Roads E and Six, southeast of Clovis.

Around 4:30 p.m. Monday, Clovis police and emergency medical responders were dispatched to 308 Calhoun Street for a shooting victim.
